FAQs

1

Do I need to clean or organize before you arrive?

Please don’t organize your closet before I arrive. I want to see it exactly as you live in it. That said, it does help to have a made bed and a reasonably clear floor since we’ll be laying things out all over the room as we work. And if you can have your laundry done so we’re working with everything you own, even better. That’s really all the prep you need.

2

What if I’m not ready to get rid of things?

That’s more common than you think and it’s completely okay. Nothing leaves your home without your say so. My job is to ask the right questions, offer an honest outside perspective, and help you work through the attachment. Sometimes we need to tell a story about a piece before we can let it go. Sometimes we just need someone to give us permission. I’m not there to strip your closet bare. I’m there to help you figure out what’s actually serving you.

3

Is this only for people with a lot of clothes?

Not at all. I’ve worked with overflowing closets and minimal ones. The size of your wardrobe matters less than how you feel about it. If getting dressed feels harder than it should, or you feel like you have nothing to wear despite a full closet, or you just want a clearer sense of your style, there’s work to be done regardless of how much you own.

4

Do you help people buy less and shop more sustainably?

It’s actually central to how I work. I believe most of us already have more than we need. Before we talk about what to buy, we figure out what you already own, what’s worth keeping, and what’s missing. Shopping comes last, if at all. When we do shop, it’s intentional: specific pieces, specific reasons, not just filling a cart. I also help clients think through resale and donation so what leaves your closet doesn’t just end up in a landfill.

5

What if this feels emotional or overwhelming?

It often does, and that’s completely normal. Our clothes carry a lot: memories, old versions of ourselves, bodies we used to have, lives we used to live. I’ve sat with clients through tears and I don’t rush that part. The goal is to get you to the other side of it, which usually feels lighter and more like yourself than you expected. The hard part doesn’t last as long as people think it will.

6

What if you don’t dress like me or understand my style?

My personal style is casual, but that’s just me. I have a solid grasp on a wide range of aesthetics and have worked with women across all of them: polished professionals, maximalists, minimalists, classic dressers, and everything in between. Before every session I send an intake form and review anything you want to share, mood boards, Pinterest, Instagram saves, whatever gives me a picture of where you’re headed. I’m not there to dress you like me. I’m there to help you figure out what you actually want to look like.
